The Confection

This Breton shirt Gauvain 1858 is made in our workshop in Troyes, France. The cotton that makes up all our marinières is spun and dyed by French artisans, before being woven, cut, and assembled in our workshops. That is why our marinières are of undeniable quality.

A Piece of History

Initially, it was a fisherman's sweater. Today, it is one of the chicest, most iconic, and most timeless garments in the fashion world.

In 1858, this garment became the symbol of the French navy, which decreed that it should wear 21 white stripes of 20 mm and 21 blue stripes of 10 mm.

My new favorite striped shirt. ❤️

I have collected many French-style crew neck-striped shirts over the years from all over the world. This Gauvain from your store is hands down my favorite! I love it! Also, thank you for the Eiffel Tower key chain that came with my purchase. What a pleasant surprise!
